FAQ: Becoming A Sponsored Provider
Being a sponsored provider means opening your home to support individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or mental health needs in a safe, family-style environment. You provide daily supervision, care, and encouragement while helping individuals live meaningful, independent, and community-connected lives. Serenity C & C Inc. serves as your sponsoring agency, offering oversight, guidance, and ongoing support so you can focus on providing quality care.
Individuals or families who are passionate about helping others and can provide a stable, supportive home environment may be eligible. Providers must meet background clearance requirements, complete required training, and demonstrate a commitment to person-centered care, dignity, and respect.
Serenity C & C Inc. offers hands-on support throughout your journey as a sponsored provider. This includes an initial, 2-week in-person training, as well as ongoing training, assistance with policies and documentation, regular home visits, compliance monitoring, and 24/7 on-call support. You are never alone — our team is always available to help you navigate challenges and ensure quality care.
Requirements include completing an initial application, passing background and safety clearances, participating in required training (such as CPR, first aid, and medication management), and maintaining a home that meets safety and space standards. Additional requirements may apply based on the needs of the individuals served.
The approval timeline varies depending on how quickly applications, clearances, and home requirements are completed. In most cases, the process takes several weeks. Serenity C & C Inc. works closely with applicants to keep the process moving smoothly and efficiently.
To get started, complete the sponsored provider application below on the Serenity C & C Inc. website. We will reach out to set up an initial screening call, walk you through each step, answer your questions, and help determine if sponsorship is the right fit for you.
Sponsored Residential providers are considered to be 24/7 providers of the individuals in their care. However, we recognize and support that caregivers need personal time as well. To support this, Serenity C & C Inc. requires each provider to have an assigned “Back-Up”, who will provide care in the case of emergency, a personal vacation, or for general respite. The “Back-Up” provider must also pass a background check and Central Registry Check.
Serenity C & C Inc. will train up to four “back-up” providers at no cost to you. However, Serenity C & C Inc. does not directly pay back-up providers, and rates will need to be agreed upon between the primary provider and the back-up.
Sponsored Residential providers are considered 1099 contractors through Serenity C & C Inc. Payment from Serenity C & C is disbursed twice monthly. There will be a 90-day budget requested to ensure financial means in the event of a delayed placement, hospitalization of an individual, or incarceration of an individual. Pay rates vary based on individual needs.
Yes. You are allowed to work a regular day job as well as being a Sponsor Provider. However, the needs of the individual will have to be met regardless of employment status. In emergencies, you must be available to provide information and be present for emergency and healthcare personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining regular doctor’s appointments, dentist appointments, and specialty appointments for the individual you are caring for, just as you would with a family member.
There are day support programs that can support the individual you care for. We will work with you and the individual case manager to determine the best support plan for each individual.
